I am María Cornu Labat, founder of Ser Nosotros. I research, teach, and support couples and families as they seek to understand what is happening in their relationships and find a way forward before distance turns into separation.
Studying and Supporting Marriage Up Close
I am a marriage and family researcher, relationship educator, certified family coach, and doctoral candidate in Psychology at the University of Navarra. My work draws on more than two decades at the intersection of family studies, relationship education, family law, and work with couples.
Before devoting myself fully to this field, I practiced family law in Argentina. That experience gave me a close view of the human consequences of conflict when it has gone too far, and it strengthened the conviction that guides all my work: many marital breakdowns can be prevented when we learn to recognize the signs of deterioration early.
Since 2012, through Ser Nosotros, I have worked with more than one hundred couples and developed workshops, conferences, and educational programs on marital strengthening, communication, conflict, and family life.
Understanding what is happening does not solve everything, but it is often the first step toward seeing one another again and choosing each other.

Ser Nosotros
In 2017, I published Ser Nosotros: Do We Resign Ourselves to the Breakdown of Our Relationship, or Explore Alternatives? The book began to shape the question I continue to explore in my research: how to recognize the different stages of marital deterioration and what a marriage needs at each stage.
I am also Marcelo’s wife and the mother of four children. That real family life—with its history, challenges, and richness—shapes the way I understand marriage: not as an abstract idea, but as a living relationship that deserves to be understood, cared for, and, whenever possible, rebuilt.
